A trio of Commodore men’s golfers were honored by the Golf Coaches Association of America for their stellar 2015-16 seasons. Junior Matthias Schwab was honored as a first-team All-American, while Will Gordon and Patrick Martin were awarded Freshmen All-American honors.
Schwab, a junior from Rohrmoos, Austria, was named the program’s third first-team All-American and the second in two seasons on Tuesday. Schwab joins Hunter Stewart, who was honored in 2015, and Brandt Snedeker, who was selected to the 2003 First Team. The honors continue to build for the junior, who led the team in stroke average this season and was named to the 2016 Palmer Cup European team and the All-SEC First Team earlier this spring.
Gordon and Martin were two of the five freshmen on the Freshmen All-American team, joining Sam Horsfield of Florida, Collin Morikawa of California, and Davis Riley of Alabama. Gordon and Martin also were named to the SEC All-Freshman team and the All-SEC Second Team this spring.
