The Vanderbilt men’s golf team will play host to 12 other teams and 10 individuals at the Franklin, Tenn., Regional on the Vanderbilt Legends Club’s North Course this Monday-Wednesday in their quest for the 2016 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship. The Commodores, who are making their fourth consecutive appearance in an NCAA Regional for the first time in program history, will be the number two seed when play begins.

The #2-seed Commodores will compete with #1 Texas, #3 LSU, #4 Washington, #5 Virginia, #6 Houston, #7 Pepperdine, #8 Kennesaw State, #9 Michigan, #10 Troy, #11 East Carolina, #12 Tennessee-Martin, and #13 Georgetown. Individuals include Ryan Cole of James Madison, Ryan Cornfield of South Carolina Upstate, Matthew Lowe of Richmond, Jose Montano of Xavier, Patrick Cover and Thomas Eldridge of UNC Wilmington, Joey Lane of Virginia Tech, Jake McGlone of UNC Greensboro, Ryan Wenzler of Wright State, and U Minn Woon of Fairleigh Dickinson. The top five teams and top individual not on those teams will advance to the Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Oregon, May 27-June 1.

Participating for the Commodores this week is two-time first-team All-SEC member Matthias Schwab, 2016 2nd Team and All-Freshman team selections Will Gordon and Patrick Martin, and 2015 second-team All-SEC members Theo Humphrey and Carson Jacobs.

“This is certainly the most exciting time of the year for any team,” said Vanderbilt head coach Scott Limbaugh. “All of the steps you have taken throughout the year and the experiences you learn from along the way help you gear up for this part of the season. In my opinion, the teams that do the little things well and are able to move on after making a mistake are the teams that have the best chance to be successful. We need to have some fun and embrace the opportunities that we have.”

The Vanderbilt Legends Club’s North Course will be set up as a par-72, 7,190-yard format for the tournament. Eighteen holes will be played Monday through Wednesday. Tee times will begin at 8 a.m. on Monday and Tuesday, and 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
