NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The 34th-ranked Vanderbilt men’s tennis team will make its 15th appearance in the NCAA tournament as announced by the committee Tuesday afternoon. VU will be traveling to the West Coast as a part of the LA regional, hosted by the third-seeded UCLA Bruins.

The first round of the Division I Men’s Tennis Championship Tournament kicks off May 13th. Vandy’s first round foe comes in San Diego, who the Commodores lost to in their fourth match of the season during Kickoff Weekend. Since the loss to the Toreros, Vanderbilt has endured an incredibly tough schedule, earned four upset victories over top-25 opponents and a spot in the SEC semifinals.

While the `Dores and Toreros collide in the first match of the regional, the No. 2 Bruins (22-2) will face Weber State in the first round before matching up with the winner of the San Diego, Vanderbilt match.

The Commodores have California roots, as freshman Vikram Chari and Cameron Klinger are natives of Saratoga and San Jose, respectively.

Conference wise, nine SEC squads earned tournament berths. Two SEC squads will make the trek west as Ole Miss will also be in California taking on Denver in Berkley. The Commodores do not have a conference team in their pod, however the winner of the Northwestern regional (No. 13 Northwestern, No. 27 Stanford, No. 37 Notre Dame and Valparaiso) will be waiting in Tulsa.
