64 teams will be selected for the 2016 NCAA regionals, which are scheduled for May 13th and 14th.

Last season, the Commodore men traveled to Columbus, Ohio as the second seed. The then-24th ranked squad downed Notre Dame in a 4-1 domination, but fell to host school, Ohio State in round two.

Women’s tennis:

Last year, the Commodores’ post-season was riddled with magical moments that ultimately led to one of the program’s most electric finishes, an SEC and National title. The 2015 women’s tennis team was selected as the No. 4 seed in last season’s national tournament, and was the first squad to solidify a both titles in one season.

VU heads into the postseason ranked No. 6 in the nation (new rankings out Thursday afternoon) and were semifinalist in the 2016 SEC tournament. The Commodores have five losses to their name to three teams (OSU 2x, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia).

Five Commodores were given SEC honors last week, which tied SEC Champion, Florida, for the most. VU placed two student-athletes on the First Team All-SEC (Altick, Campbell), Astra Sharma of the Second-Team All-SEC, Fernanda Contreras on the All-Freshman team and Georgina Sellyn was named the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Men’s Tennis:

The Commodores come off a quarterfinal berth in the SEC tournament, defeating LSU in a convincing 4-2 victory, but falling to Florida, 4-0. Florida went on to claim the SEC Tournament title over UGA.

Daniel Valent and Cameron Klinger received 2016 Southeastern Conference accolades last Thursday afternoon. Valent earned a spot on the First Team All-SEC after accumulating a 60-20 career singles record and three-top 25 victories this season.

Klinger owns a spot on the Second-Team All-SEC and All-Freshman team having played No. 1 doubles all season and in the upper portion of the Commodore singles lineup.
