The Vanderbilt women’s golf team will begin their 17th consecutive regional Thursday at the Shoal Creek, Ala., regional in their quest for the 2016 NCAA Women’s Golf Championship. In all, this will be the Commodores’ 18th trip to the postseason.

The Commodores will play 18 holes on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at the par-72, 6,470-yard Shoal Creek Country Club. The top six teams will advance from four regional sites to compete at the NCAA Championship May 20-25 at the Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore.

“This is the one tournament that has probably caused more ulcers in coaches’ stomachs over the years,” said Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen. “But, it’s also the most exciting time of the season. We prepare all year for postseason and I’m anxious to see our hard work pay off. The girls will have a busy and stressful week with final exams, but once we leave next Tuesday they will have school behind them. We will need three consistent rounds and absolutely must avoid big numbers. Jenn, Farney and Cindy know what it’s like to play in a NCAA Regional and we will rely heavily on them to get us through. I have faith and confidence in my team and know they’ll be ready for the challenge.”

The Commodores, the number 11 seed, will be joined by #1 Alabama, #2 Northwestern, #3 Oklahoma State, #4 California, #5 Iowa State, #6 Florida State, #7 Tennessee, #8 Missouri, #9 Purdue, #10 Notre Dame, #12 Clemson, #13 Michigan, #14 Middle Tennessee, #15 New Mexico State, #16 Eastern Kentucky, #17 Oakland, and #18 Alabama State.

The Commodores will send senior Jennifer Hahn, junior Kate Sborov, sophomores Alexandra Farnsworth and Cindy Ha, and freshman Courtney Zeng.

Vanderbilt will play with Notre Dame and Clemson beginning at 7:30 a.m. CT on the 10th tee.
