NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After adding her seventh double-digit save game to her repertoire, the BIG EAST named Vanderbilt goalie, Callahan Kent, the conferences’ Defensive Player of the Week.

“Cal has been outstanding all year,” said head coach Cathy Swezey. “Her ball stopping ability is second to none, and she consistently creates momentum for us with big saves. We are so happy about how she is playing, and know that all of her hard work will pay off.”
The award comes off a narrow 7-5 loss to the Georgetown Hoyas on Saturday afternoon. During the conference showdown, the junior denied 14 shots, generating a .667 save percentage.
Saturday’s performance wasn’t her first outstanding outing, as Kent has been a consistent and stable last line of defense for the Commodores this entire season. Well surpassing her previous career-high in saves, Kent is ranked 3rd in the country in saves with 120 in 11 games.
Nationally, the Norwell, Mass. native comes in 4th, averaging 10.91 saves per game. The Commodore starter is at No. 17 in save percentage, playing 660 minutes with a .490 save percentage.
Kent and the Commodores hit the road this weekend, continuing conference action on Saturday in Philadelphia, Pa. against the Temple Owls.
