NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The 2015 NCAA National Champion Vanderbilt women’s tennis team takes on the No. 16 Texas A&M Aggies Thursday, March 17th at 4:00 pm CT.
The mid-week conference matchup will be a historical competition for women’s tennis, as it will be the first ever broadcasted collegiate women’s tennis match by ESPN and the SEC Network.
“This is a tremendous honor,” said head coach Geoff Macdonald “, and I can’t think of a more deserving group than this team. They to me they are what college athletics is all about in the best way. They’re really good students with a 3.5 GPA in the fall. They’re ambitions academically, they’re fair on the court and they’re incredible tennis players and athletes.”

With Stephen Amritraj and Mark Bey running courtside color and play-by-play analysis, Vandy and Texas A&M’s meeting will be available as the first installment of the USTA’s College Match Day series.
“Matches are very exciting, there’s on energy. There’s a lot less of the `stay traditional’ tennis here. We encourage fans to cheer, be vocal, yell at the ends of points and enjoy the match like any other college sport.”
Found live on the SEC Network + via WatchESPN, the Commodores and Aggies have the opportunity and privilege to represent the SEC and showcase the elite talent found throughout the conference.
“I think this is a great opportunity to showcase our sport. Once people come and watch a match they often go away saying I had no idea it was such a wonderful sport to watch, Ill be back. I think getting it on air will get more people interested in college tennis and in women’s college tennis and supporting these great teams.”
