The Commodore women’s golf team heads to one of the top tournaments in women’s golf this weekend when they travel to the Long Cove Club in Hilton Head, S.C., to play in the Fifth Annual Darius Rucker Intercollegiate.
Vanderbilt will compete with #4 Alabama, #3 Arkansas, Auburn, #2 Duke, Furman, #5 Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, North Carolina, #13 Oklahoma State, South Carolina, #1 USC, #21 Tennessee, Virginia, and Wake Forest on the par-71, 6,208-yard Long Cove Club.
“We absolutely love everything about this tournament,” said Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen. “It’s not very often women’s collegiate golf gets to play on a golf course like Long Cove. And throw in the private Darius Rucker concert, and you’ve got a great experience for our girls. I was happy with the way we hit the ball today in the practice round and the greens are so pure. It’s one of the stronger fields we’ll compete against all year so we need to come out focused, stay committed to our game plan and get the putters hot early!”
Vanderbilt will send senior Jennifer Hahn, juniors Antonia Scherer and Kate Sborov, and sophomores Alexandra Farnsworth and Cindy Ha. Senior Morgan Ransom will play as an individual.
Vanderbilt will begin their first round on Friday morning at 9:10 CT.
