Bowlers prepare for Prairie View Invitational

Jan. 28, 2016

The bowling team left for Arlington, Tex., Thursday morning for the Prairie View A & M Invitational Friday through Sunday at the renowned International Training and Research Center.

Twelve teams will compete in the small but cutting edge center. They are Arkansas State, Jackson State, Maryland-Eastern Shore, Monmouth, Nebraska, North Carolina A & T, Prairie View, Sam Houston, Stephen F. Austin, Texas Southern, Tulane and Vanderbilt.

It was a short turn-around in Nashville after the terrific blizzard that paralyzed the northeast last weekend left the Commodores stuck almost two days in Philadelphia. The team, trying to catch up on classwork, did not practice on campus between trips. This marks the third consecutive tourney week for Vandy.

Vandy, 59-21 on the season, traveled the same group it took to Kutztown last week plus Amanda Fry.

The weekend schedule starts Friday with five, 5-game Baker matches at 12:10 p.m. CST; Saturday’s five team games are at 9:25 and Sunday includes one team game and two rounds of best four-of-seven with play starting at 8:25 a.m.

The matches will be livestreamed on Cube.

A highlight for the team will occur after Saturday’s play with a tour of the Hall of Fame located in the ITRC.
