No. 1 ‘Dores set to compete in Miami Invitational

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt women’s tennis team escapes the cold winter of Nashville this weekend for the warm beaches of Coral Gables, Fla. as the top-ranked squad competes in the Miami Invitational.

While several programs begin their first dual competitions of the season, the Dores add a few more matches to their tournament records, as student-athletes will be competing individually against competitors from No. 13 Miami, No. 25 Ole Miss and No. 41 Texas.

The Miami Spring Invite field features 11 top-100 singles players. Vanderbilt features No. 15 Frances Altick, No. 24 Sydney Campbell and No. 33 Astra Sharma, the MVP of the 2015 NCAA Team Championship.

Ole Miss’ roster includes No. 44 Tea Jandric, No. 55 Mai El Kamash and No. 84 Arianne Hartono, while Texas has No. 16 Breaunna Addison. Host school, Miami, brings four ranked players to the court in No. 7 Sinead Lohan, No. 9 Stephanie Lohan and No. 21 Yolimar Ogando and No. 80 Wendy Zhang.

Five ranked doubles teams will also be in attendance, with the Commodores’ No. 11 Courtney Colton and Sydney Campbell leading the field.

Action is set to begin Friday at 8 a.m. CT with doubles matches, followed by singles play at 9:30.
