LAS VEGAS—Sophomore Katie Stark had a strong day on a different oil pattern and led all Vanderbilt bowlers at the USA Team Trials and National Amateur Championship Monday. Stark placed eighth with a 211.67 average over six games on a day when many scores were lower than Sunday’s opening round.
The Florida lefty is in 14th place in overall standings, which combine finishes from both days of play. Vandy’s Robyn Renslow was 27th Monday and is in 13th place overall. Assistant Coach Josie Earnest, who won the opening day, couldn’t seem to get matched up with the lane make-over and struggled to place 56th, about midway in this big field. Earnest is in 21st place overall, which is the key criteria.
Other Vanderbilt bowlers are Nicole Powell, 42nd Monday, Amanda Fry, who tied Earnest at 56th, Kasey Eaton (82nd) and Jordan Newham (88).
