Fifth ranked bowlers open practice

Oct. 2, 2015

Vanderbilt’s fifth-rated bowling team conducted its first practice of the year Thursday evening with Head Coach John Williamson greeting 12 Commodores in the program’s new campus facility.

The program has a balanced mix of veterans and newcomers. There are three seniors that include first-team All-American Robyn Renslow, Amanda Fry and Tori Ferris. Juniors are returning starters Nicole Powell and Giselle Poss along with Olivia Wirtz, who is a senior academically. Third-team All-American Katie Stark is a sophomore along with redshirted Kendyll Dellinger and Ariana Perez. The trio of freshmen include Jordan Newham, Kristin Quah and Kacey Eaton.

“We are looking forward to the season,” says Williamson, who begins his 12th year as the program’s only head coach. “We like this team. We had a good off-season and with quality depth we expect to have a competitive environment for the spots in our lineup.”

The Commodores were picked fifth by the National Ten Pin Coaches Association, comprised of head coaches at NCAA member institutions in the season’s first poll, which came out Thursday evening. Here are the NTCA’s Top 10:
