Bowling announces its 2015-16 schedule

Aug. 21, 2015

Bowling Coach John Williamson has announced a busy 2015-16 schedule that features Vanderbilt’s own Columbia 300 Music City Classic in March and possibly as many as three trips to New Jersey.

The Commodores open their year Oct. 16-18 at Tulane’s Invitational and continue through the fall portion of the slate with tournament appearances at the New Jersey Jamboree, Crusader Classic and Hawk Classic before shutting down for the semester.

The pace resumes Jan. 15-17 at Arkansas State’s Mid-Winter Classic and is followed by the Kutztown Invitational, Prairie View A&M Invitational, SFA Lady Jack Invitational, Monmouth Hawk Flight and the home tourney in Smyrna, Tenn., March 18-20. The Columbia 300 Music City Classic has drawn the largest fields in the NCAA the past several years with nearly 30 teams – and virtually all of the Top 20 – competing.

The Southland Bowling League Championship, where Vanderbilt is the defending champion, will occur March 26-27 at a site yet to be announced.

Vanderbilt hopes to qualify for its 11th consecutive NCAA Championship field with the event held Apr. 14-16 in New Brunswick, N.J.

“We are pleased with the schedule,” Williamson said, “as it fulfills our goal of competing against the finest teams in the NCAA. The Monmouth Hawk Flight is a new event for us and we are looking forward to it. Otherwise these are all quality tournaments that we have competed at before.”
