On campus in Nashville — The Commodores returned to work Monday with a pair of energetic practices.
The coaches used the indoor practice facility to dodge thunderstorms during a 90-minute session early Monday, then came back in the afternoon with a fast-paced, 100-minute effort.
The team was off Sunday to enjoy Dore Jam with thousands of Commodore fans after holding a lengthy scrimmage Saturday.
Head Coach Derek Mason liked the team’s competitiveness in the second Monday session, staged in full pads held in the stadium.
“I was looking for a very competitive practice and I liked what we did,” Mason said. “I told the team that the competition level has to be high right now. We’re at that stage of camp where you just have to fight through the adversity. They did a good job competing today, and I only expect the competition to improve.”
The Commodores will return Tuesday for another session in full pads. The practice will be their 14th of camp.
