2015-16 Schedule

After a record-breaking 2014-15 season, the Vanderbilt men’s golf team announced their schedule for their upcoming season, a challenging slate that has the Commodores competing on the nation’s top courses and in college golf’s best events. VU begins its season September 4-6 at the Carmel Cup in Pebble Beach, Calif.

The Commodores once again open their schedule on one of the world’s most picturesque golf tracks at the Carmel Cup on the Monterrey Peninsula in California, where the team will play all three rounds at the world famous Pebble Beach Golf Club. Following the trip to California, Vanderbilt returns home to play in the Dick’s Sporting Goods Challenge Cup at the Golf Club of Tennessee, an event that will feature five teams from the SEC and five from the ACC. The 10 teams will play 54 holes of stroke play and then 18 holes of match play September 25-27.

Other fall tournaments include the Nike Collegiate Invitational in Portland, Ore., at Pumpkin Ridge, and a return trip to the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational in Windermere, Fla., October 18-20 to close out the fall in one of collegiate golf’s most prestigious tournaments.

“We are so excited about this year’s schedule,” said Vanderbilt head coach Scott Limbaugh. Our fall slate will once again take us to some of the best, most prestigious courses in the world and these experiences should help prepare us for the spring season. We will once again open up at Pebble Beach for the Carmel Cup then return home for the Dick’s Collegiate Challenge Cup at one of our home courses, The Golf Club of Tennessee. We will then head to Portland, Oregon for the NCI and get to play Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club, which is rich with golf history. Our fall will conclude with the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational at Isleworth Country Club in Windermere.”

Four of the scheduled tournaments in the spring are return trips for the Commodores, who competed in the same events last spring. The Commodores open 2016 at the SunTrust Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla., February 20-21. Vanderbilt returns to Los Cabos, Mexico, February 28-March 1, for the Querencia Cabo Intercollegiate, and heads to the Schenkel Invitational for the second straight season for a solid field in Statesboro, Ga., March 18-20. Vanderbilt then plays at their own Mason Rudolph Championship, which will take place April 2-3 at the Vanderbilt Legends Club.

“Our spring season will be very similar to last year’s,” said Limbaugh. “We will open at the Gator Invitational then head to Cabo for the QCC, which is one of our favorite events of the year on another championship course. Our next stop will be in Statesboro, Ga., for the Schenkel Invitational and we will close our regular season at home for the Mason Rudolph Championship at Vanderbilt Legends Club.”

The SEC Championship, which will be contested April 15-17, will once again be held at the Sea Island Golf Club. The Commodores will host an NCAA Regional at Vanderbilt Legends Club May 16-18, and the NCAA Championships will take place May 27-June 1 in Eugene, Ore., at the Eugene Country Club.
