Commodores named All-Academic team by GCAA

July 30, 2015

Not only can the Commodore men’s golf team get the job done on the course, but their prowess extends to the classroom as well. The Golf Coaches Association of America recently honored the Vanderbilt men’s golf team as an All-Academic team with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher for the 2014-15 campaign.

Vanderbilt is one of six SEC teams to be honored by the GCAA as an All-Academic Team. Senior Ben Fogler, who graduated in May of 2015, was also honored as an All-American scholar by the organization earlier in the month. An All-American scholar is an individual that must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 77.0 in NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. It marks the second year Fogler has been named to the team.

The Commodores finished the 2014-15 season as the fourth-ranked team in the country according to Golfstat and advanced to the quarterfinals of match play at the 2015 NCAA Championship.
