NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A pair of Vanderbilt soccer games will be showcased on national television this fall.
The Southeastern Conference announced that the Commodores’ road tilt against Texas A&M on Sept. 18 and their home game against in-state rival Tennessee on Sept. 27 will be shown on the SEC Network.
Vanderbilt’s two games are a pair of 30 women’s soccer games will be shown on SEC Network or ESPNU, including the SEC soccer tournament. The Commodores played three games on the SEC Network in the first year of the network in 2014.
First-year coach Darren Ambrose will lead Vanderbilt into College Station, Texas at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18 for an early SEC matchup against national power Texas A&M. The Aggies are coming off a year in which they reached the Final Four and won both the SEC regular-season and tournament championships.
Just a week later, the SEC Network will descend on Nashville, marking the second game ever at the VU Soccer/Lacrosse Complex to appear on the network. At 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27, the Commodores will host rival Tennessee. Vanderbilt defeated the Vols 2-0 last year for the first win over UT since 2009.
The Southeastern Conference and ESPN have a 20-year agreement through 2034 to create and operate a multiplatform network, which launched August 14, 2014. The new network and its accompanying digital platform carry SEC content 24/7 and featured more than 1,000 live events the first year. The network televises over 45 SEC football games, more than 100 men’s basketball games, 60 women’s basketball games, 75 baseball games, and events from across the SEC’s 21 sports annually. Programming includes in-depth commentary and analysis in studio shows, daily news and information, original content such as SEC Storied, spring football games, and more.
