NASHVILLE – Tom Garrick announced on Monday that he has accepted a job as an assistant coach at Boston College. Garrick had been on head coach Melanie Balcomb’s staff since 2009, serving as associate head coach since 2013.
The move to Boston College will enable Garrick to be closer to his family in Rhode Island.
”Tom Garrick has been a tremendous part of our Vanderbilt family for six years,” said Balcomb. “Our women’s basketball program will miss him very much. We are happy for him to have the opportunity to move closer to his family. Tom is a gifted coach and a special person, and we are grateful to him for the contributions he has made to our program.”
During his time at Vanderbilt, Garrick was responsible for guard development and he served as the program’s defensive coordinator.
”It was a very difficult decision,” said Garrick, “but I have chosen to pursue a new phase in my journey to be closer to my family. I had a wonderful experience at Vanderbilt. The women’s program, led by Coach Balcomb, is one of the elite programs in the country, and I wish her and the team nothing but success. I have met so many wonderful people at Vanderbilt, who I have grown to know and care for.”
