Vanderbilt receives high NCAA APR scores

300x300ncaalogo052615.jpgINDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – All 16 of Vanderbilt’s teams exceeded the NCAA’s multi-year standard for Academic Progress Rates (APR) and an SEC-high seven teams earned perfect scores of 1,000, as announced by the NCAA Wednesday.

Posting perfect marks of 1,000 were bowling, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s golf and women’s indoor and outdoor track. Thirteen of Vanderbilt’s 16 teams matched or exceeded its score from the previous year.

All of Vanderbilt’s teams had scores of 975 or above, topping the national APR cutoff score of 930. Schools that do not reach the NCAA minimum are subject to penalties.

Eight of Vanderbilt’s teams had the highest APR scores of any Southeastern Conference school. Vanderbilt’s bowling team had a perfect score, but does not compete in the league. Vanderbilt’s lacrosse team had the fourth-highest score (995) in its first season in the BIG EAST. Topping the SEC were Vanderbilt’s baseball, men’s and women’s cross country, football, men’s and women’s golf and women’s indoor and outdoor track teams. Soccer finished with the second-best score in the SEC.

The most recent APR scores are multi-year rates based on the 2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14 academic years.

Every Division I sports team calculates its APR each academic year, based on the eligibility, graduation and retention of each scholarship student-athlete. The score also serves as a predictor of graduation success. For additional information, visit NCAA.org.
