Three Dores alive at Queens

May 17, 2015

GREEN BAY, WI—Vanderbilt’s impressive showing at the USBC Queens continued Sunday as Kristin Quah, Brittni Hamilton and Giselle Poss are still alive heading into Monday’s second day of bracket play.

Incoming freshman Quah defeated two opponents and is the only undefeated Dore heading into Monday while alum Hamilton and junior Poss each notched wins in the difficult loser’s bracket of the double-elimination event.

Quah, the Singapore product who has made a major splash here, topped Stephanie Martins and Iliana Lomeli by comfortable margins and is now paired against Kristina Wendell in a game set for 9 a.m. Monday.

Hamilton topped Kimi Davidson but lost a three-pin decision to Erin McCarthy (pin count over three games). She rebounded with a win over Jacqui Reese and now must beat Amanda Greene in another 9 a.m. Monday match.

Poss dropped a first-round match to Bryanna Caldwell but came back with wins over No. 1 seeded Ferity Crawley and Sarah Germano to continue her outstanding showing in her first Queens event. She will meet Birgit Poeppler in Monday morning’s first game.

Vanderbilt assistant coach Josie Earnest had a tough day, losing by five pins to Maria Jose Rodriguez in the first round, then by seven to Mariana Ayala in the consolation bracket and as a result is out of the tournament.

The Queens will conclude with the live ESPN2 finals Tuesday at 7 p.m. Central. All match play rounds leading up to the TV show will be broadcast live on Xtra Frame. Complete coverage is on bowl.com.
