Quah Sizzles to Queens Record

May 15, 2015

GREEN BAY, WIS—Kris Quah walked into the Ashwaubenon Bowling Alley Friday largely unknown on the United States scene, a recent high school graduate competing against the best professionals and college stars.

The Singapore product heading to Vanderbilt this fall left the lanes Friday night the talk of the USBC Queens after setting a tournament record with an eye-opening 1,297 block – a 259.4 average – over five games that set the mark by three pins.

Quah opened with a 299 and never really cooled off. She jumped to second in the overall standings after two days, trailing Verity Crawley of Babson Park, Fl. by a slim margin. Well known professional star Kelly Kulick is in third place in the 206 bowler field.

All Vanderbilt associated bowlers fared well. Former All-American Brittni Hamilton had a strong day and sits in ninth place. Assistant Coach Josie Earnest is 27th at 215.80 and junior Giselle Poss continued her excellent summer by going +107 Friday for a 212.70 average, putting her in 33rd place. Incoming freshman Jordan Newman is in the top half of this elite field with a 198 average.

Day Three of qualifying is Saturday. Complete cover is found on bowl.com.
