Vanderbilt’s women’s tennis program received high praise in a recent poll published Wednesday by USA Today that ranked the nation’s top programs.

Vanderbilt is ranked No. 2 nationally in the poll which considers athletic success, academics, career prep, mentorship and value into its rankings. Duke is ranked No. 1.

Behind Vanderbilt, Florida was the highest-ranked SEC school, checking in at No. 5.

The article states the following about Vanderbilt:

“Vanderbilt has an endowment of $4.06 billion and, according to 2013 report from The Center for Measuring University Performance, Vanderbilt ranks among the top 20 research schools in the nation. The university houses the Institute for Space and Defense Electronics, the largest research facility in the U.S. studying the effects of radiation. Vanderbilt is a selective institution, with the average SAT score of those accepted being 1490.

In 1994, Geoff Macdonald inherited a Commodores’ program that had never been ranked higher than #28 in the nation. In 16 of his 19 seasons, the school has been ranked #19 or higher, including a #2 ranking to finish 2004. His teams have scored a perfect GSR in each of the past ten years.”
