Vanderbilt University held its annual alternative commencement ceremony Tuesday for student-athletes who were on the road competing and unable to attend last week’s commencement ceremony.
Held inside the Jean and Alexander Heard Library, the ceremony was conducted by Chancellor Nicholas Zeppos, and took place before family, friends, coaches, teammates and athletics staff.
Receiving their diplomas were Irina Gabasa and Kendall Martindale from the women’s golf team and Gonzales Austin, Suresh Eswaran and Jeffrey Offerdahl from the men’s tennis team. Both teams were away from campus competing in NCAA postseason competition last weekend.
