Nashville, Tenn. – Junior Carson Fulmer picked up his first weekly honor from the Southeastern Conference for his second shutout of the season in last Thursday’s win over No. 10 Florida.

Fulmer held the Gators scoreless, scattering six hits and striking out 11 to earn his team-best 10th win of the season. Florida threatened Fulmer just twice with runners in scoring position before the right-hander retired 11 straight batters from the fifth through the eighth inning. Florida put multiple runners on base in just one inning with back-to-back, two-out hits.

The shutout was Fulmer’s second of the season after a two-hit, 15-strikeout performance for his first shutout of the year last month against Ole Miss. The Lakeland, Fla. native has struck out at least 11 in five starts this season and has turned in eight scoreless outings of his 13 starts this year. Fulmer has won each of his last seven starts allowing just eight runs over 52.2 innings (1.37 ERA) with 70 strikeouts.

Entering the final weekend of SEC play, Fulmer leads the league in the pitching triple crown with 10 wins, 118 strikeouts and a 1.56 ERA. He is the only pitcher in the league with a sub-2.00 ERA among the league’s qualified pitchers and has 32 more strikeouts than second place.

Fulmer joins Zander Wiel, Rhett Wiseman, Kyle Wright and Jeren Kendall as Commodores to earn weekly recognition from the SEC this season.
