GONE TO CAROLINA
Vanderbilt returns to South Carolina for the first time since the team’s historic 2013 season. The Commodores set the SEC record with a 26-3 league mark, winning all 10 conference series in the process. The Dores won both games at Carolina Stadium before Sunday’s finale was rained out. Last season in Nashville, the Gamecocks rallied late to take the series opener and used an outstanding performance from Wil Crowe on the final day of the regular season to win the series. Entering the series Vandy is 27-51 all time vs. South Carolina dating back to 1992.

EXTRA SWANSON
All-American Dansby Swanson has been putting in a little extra over the last four games for the Commodores. All six of the junior’s hits over the last four games have gone for extra-bases going 6-for-18 (.333). Swanson has hit two home runs, two triples and two doubles over the four-game stretch. He’s also driven in one run in all four games with four runs scored. He leads the Commodores in hits (55), doubles (13), triples (5), home runs (7) and runs scored (50).

RO IS ROLLING
Ro Coleman carries an 11-game hitting streak into the weekend series at South Carolina. The sophomore is hitting .313 (15-for-48) during the streak with seven runs scored and three RBI as the designated hitter atop Tim Corbin’s lineup. Coleman posted a career-best three hits last Friday night against Ole Miss.

FULMER PICKS UP THIRD NATIONAL WEEKLY HONOR
Collegiate Baseball honored Carson Fulmer for the third time this season for his two-hit shutout against Ole Miss last week naming him as one of their National Players of the Week. Fulmer’s second career shutout featured a career-best 14 strikeouts in the Commodores’ 6-0 win. Fulmer became the first Vandy pitcher since Sonny Gray in 2011 vs. Brown to strikeout at least 14 and issue no walks in a complete game win. Fulmer’s two career shutouts also match David Price’s career total.

VANDY PUNCH OUT
Vanderbilt’s pitching staff leads the SEC with 385 strikeouts and the nation with 9.7 strikeouts per nine innings. The Dores have struck out 60 batters over the team’s last five games (52.0 IP), including a season-high and Hawkins Field record 22 last Friday vs. Ole Miss. Carson Fulmer struck out 14 in his last outing against the Rebels last Thursday. He enters the weekend leading the SEC and ranked second nationally with 81 strikeouts.
