Vanderbilt junior Courtney Colton was named to the 2015 SEC Women’s Tennis Community Service Team as announced by the league Tuesday afternoon.
Colton, a special education and child development major has done several great works in schools around the Nashville area by helping teachers with day-to-day operations as well as assisting children in reading and match instruction.
Most recently the Davie, Fla. native helped design a behavior intervention for students, and is currently designing a behavior management plan for one of her classes here at Vanderbilt.
Not only does Colton care for the betterment children’s minds, but also their health as she has volunteered at Eakin Elementary School helping out with their family fit nights.
With postseason play on the horizon, Colton comes in at the No. 75 player in the nation. Alongside partner Sydney Campbell the duo comes in at No. 25 in tandems. As a pair the two own a 9-5 (4-1) record, which they hope to improve as the team sets out for Columbia, S.C. for the 2015 SEC Women’s Tennis Tournament.
