Vanderbilt’s All-Time First Team All-America Selections
ST. LOUIS—Vanderbilt’s Robyn Renslow and Katie Stark were named All-Americans Wednesday night at the NCAA Bowling Championship banquet. Renslow was named to the five-woman first-team while Stark gained third-team honors.
Renslow, a junior from Brentwood, Calif., is making her debut on the first-team after earning second-team honors two consecutive years. She ranked fifth nationally in overall frame average at 20.794. Renslow made three all-tournament teams this season and had a high game of 290 at the Kutztown Invitational.
She becomes the fifth Vanderbilt bowler to earn first-team All-America honors, joining Josie Earnest and Brittni Hamilton (three-time recipients), Michelle Peloquin (two-time honoree) and Jessica Earnest.
Stark, a freshman from Orlando, burst onto the scene midway through the season and gave the Commodores added spark from her role in the lead-off position. The southpaw was fourth nationally in team game frame average at 21.03 (10-frame average of 210.3) and helped push the Commodores to a strong season finish that saw them win the Southland Bowling League championship and win 30 of their last 36 games.
Several other Commodores were notable during the annual banquet, which kicks off the championship.
Nicole Mosesso was the school’s nominee for the NCAA’s Elite 89 Award, which is presented to the student-athlete at each of the NCAA’s championship events that attains the highest grade point average. The award typically requires a 4.0 gpa to win, which at Vanderbilt is virtually unattainable in the highly competitive academic environment of the Top 17 ranked school. Mosesso, a senior, has an outstanding 3.78 gpa in Medicine, Health and Society and earned the respect of the Vanderbilt continent.
Rebeca Reguero represented the program in the “Student-Athlete Reflections” and gave an excellent three minute talk without notes before the crowd of several hundred.
Vanderbilt Head Coach John Williamson is serving as the president of the Ten Pin Coaches Association, the organization of NCAA head coaches that votes on the All-America team selections.
