NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The hot streak hasn’t ended for Kayla Peterson, and neither have the accolades.

For the second straight week, Vanderbilt’s freshman midfielder was named the BIG EAST Conference’s Rookie of the Week. In addition, sophomore midfielder Caroline Peters was named to the BIG EAST’s Weekly Honor Roll.

Peterson, a native of Hagerstown, Md., continued her torrid stretch with three goals, an assist, four points, three draw controls and two ground balls in games against No. 10 Louisville and No. 6 Florida. Against Florida in the BIG EAST opener for both teams on Sunday, she scored two goals and dished out an assist. It was her third multi-goal game of the season, with all three coming in the last four games.

In fact, in the last four games, she has nine goals, eight draw controls and four assists. Peterson, who has started the last two games for the first two starts of her career, leads all VU freshmen with 10 goals, five assists, 15 points and nine draw controls.

Peters, a native of Rockville, Md., had one of the best weeks of her young career as she totaled five goals, one assist, six points and eight draw controls. Against Louisville last Wednesday, she tied a career high with three goals and dished out an assist. She notched her second straight multi-goal game on Sunday against Florida with two goals while also snagging a career-high seven draw controls. She ranks fourth on the team in goals (14) and assists (five).

Vanderbilt (3-6) returns to action at 4 p.m. on Wednesday with its last non-conference match of the season against former American Lacrosse foe No. 20 Johns Hopkins (6-2) in Baltimore.
