The fifth-ranked Vanderbilt men’s golf team travels to Naples, Fla., this Sunday and Monday in hopes of repeating as the team champion at the Talis Park Challenge in an event hosted by Ball State University.
The Commodores, who won last year’s event by 19 shots, will send seniors Hunter Stewart and Ben Fogler, junior Carson Jacobs, who was a co-medalist last year, sophomore Matthias Schwab, and freshman Theo Humphrey to compete next week at the Talis Park Golf Club. Junior Spencer Ciesla, who is from Naples, will compete for Vanderbilt as an individual.
“The guys are excited to compete again this week,” said Vanderbilt head coach Scott Limbaugh. “As the season progresses, we have talked about taking the right steps every time out and this is another opportunity for us to do that. We want to build on the positive things that happened last week so we can be more consistent in how each person does their job.”
Vanderbilt will compete against LSU (Golfstat rank 13), Texas A&M (49), Michigan State (76), Miami University (118), Eastern Michigan (119), Wichita State (121), Indiana (138), Toledo (139), Xavier (153), Ball State (156), Notre Dame (157), Florida Gulf Coast (168), Akron (177), Northern Illinois (197).
