The 16th-ranked Commodores head to a loaded field this Friday-Sunday at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, S.C., at the Long Cove Club.
The tournament, named after former front man of Hootie and the Blowfish and current country superstar Darius Rucker, is a 54-hole event that will take place at the par-71, 6,142-yard Long Cove Club. Eighteen holes will be played each day of the tournament. Prior to the tournament on Thursday night, the teams will enjoy a private concert from Rucker himself to kick off the event’s festivities.
The University of South Carolina, who will serve as host of the event for the weekend, welcomes Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona State, Auburn, Duke, Furman, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, North Carolina, South Carolina, Southern Cal, Tennessee, Virginia, Wake Forest, and the Commodores to the tournament. Fourteen of the 18 teams are ranked in the nation’s top 30.
Competing for Vanderbilt are seniors Kendall Martindale and Irina Gabasa, sophomore Antonia Scherer, and freshmen Alexandra Farnsworth and Cindy Ha.
