A winter storm that swept through the eastern half of the United States causing travel problems by land or air has forced some changes to Vanderbilt’s 11th annual Columbia 300 Music City Classic bowling tournament, which gets underway Friday morning at 11:45 a.m. (CST) at the Smyrna Bowling Center.
As of Thursday evening, 16 of the entered 29 teams were able to make it to Nashville with others due to reach Music City sometime Friday.
Therefore, the format will change to essentially three, one-day events. Friday’s action will be five, 5-game Baker matches among those teams on hand. So that the other teams arriving late are not left out, a Saturday rotation will be developed later Friday based upon which teams can safely make the trip.
Saturday’s play will be traditional team games as planned, starting at 11:45 a.m. Sunday’s Baker matches will start at 8:00 a.m.
The tournament is expected to be live streamed on bowl.com, although announcer Lucas Wiseman had his scheduled flight changed and he is expecting to arrive in Nashville Friday morning.
There is no admission to watch the tournament, which at one time had the top 17 teams in the nation entered and will still have a vast majority of the Top 20 participating.
