The Vanderbilt track and field program is sending its distance medley relay team — comprised of Courtney Clayton, Jennifer Edobi, Skyler Carpenter and Sara Barron — to the Alex Wilson Invitational at Notre Dame this weekend.

The DMR team will be in action at 11:50 a.m. on Saturday morning, and will be attempting to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Nationals. The top 12 times on the NCAA list from this season (which will extend through meets held this weekend and next weekend) qualify for nationals.

Vanderbilt head coach Steve Keith estimates that his team will need to post a time of about 11:05 to make the cut.

“With four solid efforts, we feel like we can run at that level,” said Keith.

Vanderbilt’s DMR school record is 11:19.76 set in 2012.

This weekend, Clayton will run the 1200 leg, Edobi 400, Carpenter 800 and Barron 1600.

The Commodores will be competing against a field of roughly a dozen teams that is expected to include Notre Dame, Michigan and North Carolina, among others.

Vanderbilt will be in action at the SEC Championships next weekend in Lexington, Ky.
