The construction guys are going full speed on the renovation of our Athletic Training Facility. Anyone passing by the west side of McGugin Center would have noticed the big construction site and demolition of the former exterior walls. Hopes are to have the $6.5 million project completed this fall.
About one-third of our football roster (29) earned a berth on the SEC’s Fall Academic Honor Roll. Twenty members of our soccer team were also cited.

As a former sandlot baseball coach, the only thing that surprises me about the current Little League scandal is that anyone is surprised. While the overwhelming majority of moms, dads and community servants that volunteer to help with youth ball are honest with good intentions, show up at a typical little league player draft if you want to see how a few win-at-all-cost yahoos can work an otherwise fair system. We came to believe that every “god son”, “kid down the street whose mom can’t get him to practice” or newcomer that was on vacation and couldn’t be there to be evaluated was a head taller and 40 pounds stronger than every other kid in the league. What are the lessons being taught on those teams?
