Vanderbilt head coach Kevin Stallings and his Vanderbilt Commodores are heading to paradise to take part in the 2015 Maui Invitational at the Lahaina Civic Center on the island of Maui November 23-25, 2015, in one of college basketball’s most elite early season tournaments. The Commodores will be joined at the event by basketball powers Indiana, Kansas, St. John’s, UCLA, UNLV, Wake Forest and host Chaminade.
The 2015 Maui Invitational will mark Vanderbilt’s fifth trip to the Tournament, and its first since 2009, when the Commodores finished 2-1 at the event. The Commodores have a record of 8-4 in the tournament in their five trips to the island. Included in those appearances is one tournament title, which came in 1986 when the tournament was called the Hawaiian Airlines Silversword Invitational Tournament. Vanderbilt knocked off VCU, Missouri, and New Mexico en route to the championship. Other appearances came in 1988 and 1995.
