Vanderbilt Men’s Golf and the Vanderbilt Legends Club was selected as one of six hosts as a 2016 NCAA Men’s Regional May 16-18 on the North Course in Franklin, Tenn. This will be the first men’s NCAA regional held at the Vanderbilt Legends Club, but the North Course is no stranger to hosting elite NCAA events, with the NCAA Women’s Championship contested there three years ago in 2012.
“This is a great day for our golf program and our athletic department to receive the bid for the 2016 NCAA Regional at Vanderbilt Legends Club,” said Vanderbilt head coach Scott Limbaugh. “We are so thankful for our partnership with Legends and their ongoing enthusiasm to showcase our golf courses and for their continued support of college and amateur golf. Also, we appreciate the NCAA’s confidence in our ability to host a first class event. I believe that our department, which recently hosted the Women’s NCAA Championship in 2012, getting very high reviews for that event certainly was a big factor. We also have a very active golf community in Nashville, which is eager to help us put on a memorable tournament for the student-athletes.”
“This will be another opportunity for our fans and supporters to come out and walk beside the best amateur golfers in the world.”
Top finishing teams at the Vanderbilt Legends Club will advance to the national championship, which will be held at the Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Oregon.
