Freshman guard Riley LaChance won his second SEC Freshman of the Week award for his play last week in two Commodore victories. LaChance averaged 16.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in wins at Saint Louis and versus Yale.
LaChance, who won Freshman of the Week honor earlier this year, becomes Vanderbilt’s third freshmen award winner of the year. Wade Baldwin IV also claimed the honor earlier this season.
The honor for LaChance is the 13th Freshman of the Week award for a Commodore player, and becomes the fourth Vanderbilt freshman to win two or more honors in the same season. Kevin Bright won two awards in 2012-13, while John Jenkins (2009-10) and A.J. Ogilvy (2007-08) each won three.
The Commodores are back in action this Tuesday night as they open conference play against Auburn. Tip off is 8 p.m., and the game can be seen live on ESPNU.
