LAS VEGAS—Brittni Hamilton had a 299 game en route to a 240.6 average to win Monday’s competition at the USA Team Trials and as a result, vaulted into third place in the overall standings.
The Webster, N.Y. native who starred for Vanderbilt before graduating in 2012 is the defending champion at this event. Danielle McEwan continues to lead the women’s competition with three of the five days in the books.
Vandy assistant coach Josie Earnest is still in the mix, although her 30th place finish in the field of 118 saw her slip to 13th overall.
Giselle Poss now leads the current Vanderbilt varsity representatives in 49th place with Amanda Fry continuing her climb and now in 51st. The Antelope, Calif., junior was 28th on Monday.
Other Commodores include Katie Stark (60), Kendyll Dellinger (73), Nicole Powell (81), Natalie Goodman (95) and signee Jordan Newham in 111.
“Considering how strong and deep this field is and how challenging the lane patterns have been set, I think our varsity bowlers are doing quite well,” said Head Coach John Williamson. “And they are gaining a lot of experience as they are rubbing elbows with the greatest women in today’s game.”
