Today’s spotlight: Kristen Gaffney
Vanderbilt redshirt sophomore Kristen Gaffney is today’s featured player on our Countdown to Tipoff package that will lead up to the Commodores’ season opener against Belmont on Nov. 14.
Gaffney has dealt with multiple knee injuries since her arrival at Vanderbilt, but was able to play for the Commodores down the stretch last season, including logging 29 minutes and finishing with six points, five rebounds and three assists in loss to Kentucky on March 2.
Gaffney tore an ACL prior to her freshman season, causing her to miss the entire 2012-13 campaign. She then suffered another ACL tear last year that kept her sidelined until Feb. 27, when she made her college debut against Florida.
She played in VU’s final four games of the season. She averaged 18.8 minutes of playing time in the four games, compiling 12 points and 18 rebounds.
