If you follow the news, does it sometimes seem as though things are falling apart? Even in the sports world, on any given day a high percentage of stories involve somebody’s problem. Whether it’s the pros or collegians, there is no shortage of assaults, accusations, hypocrisy, cheating or investigations … it’s a disgustingly long list for an endeavor that was originally intended to provide exercise and entertainment. Are there more sleazy characters now or is social media’s thirst for controversy and a 24-7 news cycle hungry for ratings part of this mix? One thing for certain, some things that once were considered gossip are now on the front pages. While this hopefully represents progress, there are times when it’s hard to distinguish between today’s chatter and yesterday’s gossip.

Please remember our long-time equipment manager Luke Wyatt, whose father Alfred passed away last Sunday.

For those interested in food safety, our stadium concession partner Sodexo just received a terrific score of 98.2 from the health department’s latest inspection. The minor matter that prevented a perfect 100 has been addressed.

Come by the Vanderbilt Legends Club or The Golf Club of Tennessee Friday through Sunday mornings and early afternoons to see terrific collegiate golf. Our SEC champion women are hosting the Mason Rudolph Championship at Legends and our No. 6 rated men are in the SEC/ACC Challenge at Golf Club. Both events are free to watch.
