Vanderbilt senior high jumper Brionne Williams will compete in the prestigious Penn Relays this week at Franklin Field on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania.
This year marks the 120th running of the Penn Relays and more than 22,000 athletes from around the world are scheduled to be in Philadelphia to compete. The three-day event — which is routinely held before a packed house — has seen more competitors in its history than any meet in the world, according to race officials.
Williams is scheduled to travel to Pennsylvania on Thursday, and she will compete on Friday at 1:45 p.m.
Williams, one of the most successful athletes in the program’s history, will be Vanderbilt’s first representative at the event since 2010, when former Commodore stars Louise Hannallah and Alexa Rogers competed in the 5,000 meter run.
