Senior Christina Foggie found out on Monday night that she and her teammates are bound for the NCAA Tournament. Less than 24 hours later, there was more good news for Foggie — she was named to the All-SEC First Team by the Associated Press.
Foggie, who won the conference’s regular-season scoring title, was joined on the First Team by South Carolina’s Tiffany Mitchell, Texas A&M’s Courtney Walker, Mississippi State’s Martha Alwal, Ole Miss’ Tia Faleru and Tennessee’s Meighan Simmons and Isabelle Harrison.
Foggie and the Commodores are currently preparing for the NCAA Tournament after receiving an at-large bid on Monday night. The No. 8-seeded Commodores (18-12) face No. 9-seeded Arizona State (22-9) in the first round on Saturday at 10 a.m. in Toledo, Ohio.
Foggie, who is averaging 19.1 points per game for the Commodores, has had a record-breaking season. She became the school’s all-time leader in career 3-pointers (274) and also moved into the Top-10 on Vanderbilt’s all-time scoring list (1,724).
Foggie has scored in double figures in all but two games this season, including every SEC game (plus one game in the SEC tournament). She was named Second Team All-SEC by the conference’s coaches.
