Game Notes
– Wednesday’s game marked the 184th meeting between the Commodores and the Volunteers.
– Vanderbilt improves to 59-48 when playing UT in Nashville.
– VU is now 13-17 against the Vols under Coach Stallings, 71-113 all-time.
– The Commodores are now 4-6 in the last 10 meetings with the Volunteers.
– Vandy’s four game win-streak marks its longest of the season, and first since the Commodores won four-straight in the 2012 postseason (SEC Championship, 3 gms; NCAA, 1 gm). VU strung together win-streaks of four or more three times that season, with a high of eight games.
– Attendance was 10,733, the second highest total of the season.
– Starters: Jones, Siakam, Parker, Fuller and Odom. VU is now 5-4 when that group is on the floor for the opening tip.
Team Notes
– After trailing early, Vanderbilt used a 14-4 run to permanently take the lead from the Volunteers.
– Vanderbilt shot 60 percent (15-of-25) in the first half.
– VU went into the half with a 10 point lead, its highest halftime lead against an SEC opponent this season.
– The Commodores are now 11-2 when leading at halftime.
– Tennessee outscored Vanderbilt 34-28 in the second half.
– UT never regained the lead but tied the game at 53 with 6:35 to play in regulation.
– Vandy allowed just 2-of-12 shooting inside the last six minutes of the game.
– The Commodores finished 24-of-46 from the floor (52.2 percent), and 6-of-15 from outside (40 percent).
– Vanderbilt allowed a season-low six turnovers.
Player Notes
– Rod Odom scored a career high 26 points on 8-of-12 from the floor, 4-of-7 from outside and 6-of-8 from the free throw line. The senior has eclipsed 20 points six times this season, and eight times during his career. Odom finished the first half with 16 points.
– Odom has been extremely protective of the basketball during Vandy’s win-streak. In 158 minutes played, the senior has only turned the ball over three times. In his past two games (78 minutes played) Odom has yet to commit a turnover.
– Kyle Fuller recorded his second career double-double, on 12 points and 10 assists. His 10 dimes match his career best mark set against Kentucky, earlier this year. Fuller has scored in double-figures in each game during the win streak.
– Damian Jones fouled out for the third time this season. He finished with nine points on 3-of-7 from the floor. Jones also recorded three blocks. It is the sixth time this year the freshman has swatted at least two shots in a game.
– James Siakam scored nine points on 4-of-6 shooting in 26 minutes of action. He also added three rebounds and two blocks. It is Siakam’s eighth-straight game with a block.
– Dai-Jon Parker played all 40 minutes for the fifth-straight game. He is averaging just over 39.5 minutes per game during SEC play.
