Christina Foggie has proven over the past three years that she is among the elite players in the country — and it’s not just Vanderbilt fans who’ve noticed.
Foggie on Monday was named to the Naismith Trophy Early-Season Watch List. The award is given at the end of the season to the Player of the Year.
Foggie, a senior, is averaging 19.3 points and 3.8 rebounds per game through Vanderbilt’s first six games of the season.
She has made a huge impact on the Vanderbilt program throughout her career, including leading the SEC in scoring as a sophomore and eclipsing the 1,000-point mark last year.
Foggie, from Mount Laurel, N.J., is shooting 48 percent from the floor this year, and leads the team in 3-pointers (17). She is also shooting 90.7 percent from the foul line, making 39-of-43, and leads the attempts in free throw attempts.
Foggie and the Commodores, off to a 4-2 start, host Elon on Friday in the opening round of the Thanksgiving Tournament at 4 p.m.
Admission to all four games of the Tournament is free.
