The Commodores’ men’s basketball team hits the road for the first time in the 2013-14 season when they travel to Indianapolis to take on Butler at historic Hinkle Fieldhouse Tuesday night at 5 p.m. CT. The game will air on Fox Sports 1, and the radio broadcast can be heard on the Vanderbilt IMG Radio Network and online at vucommodores.com.
The Commodores moved to 2-0 on the season with an 80-69 win over cross-town opponent Lipscomb on November 15 at Memorial Gym. Senior forward Rod Odom scored 20 points to lead four Vanderbilt players in double figures, and junior James Siakam tallied the first double-double of his career with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Vanderbilt outrebounded the Bisons, 42-26, and shot 53.2% from the floor for the game.

First Trip to Butler Since 1924-25
The Commodores will play Butler in Indianapolis for the first time since the 1924-25 season and will meet the Bulldogs for the fifth time overall. Tuesday’s meeting is the back end of a home and home agreement between the two schools, which began last season at Memorial Gym.

Memorial Gym – opened in 1952.
Two of CBB’s most unique places, Hinkle is the 5th oldest active collegiate gymnasium, while Memorial is the SEC’s oldest building.
About Butler
- Butler is now 2-0 on the season after defeating Princeton, 70-67, Saturday at Hinkle Fieldhouse. The Bulldogs also have a win over Lamar in 2013-14.
- Kellen Dunham leads Butler in scoring on the season, averaging 19.5 points per game. Khyle Marshall (11.5), Kameron Woods (11.0), and Erik Fromm (10.0) also average double figure points. Marshall and Woods leads the Bulldogs on the glass, averaging 8.5 rebounds per game apiece.
- Head coach Brandon Miller is in his first season at Butler.
- Butler owns a 4-0 all-time record in the series, and won a 68-49 decision on December 29 last year at Memorial Gym. This will be Vanderbilt’s first trip to Butler since the 1924-25 season.
Stallings Becomes All-Time Vanderbilt Wins Leader
Head Coach Kevin Stallings, who won his 279th career game with Vanderbilt Friday night against Lipscomb, is now the all-time Vanderbilt wins leader, surpassing legendary coach Roy Skinner. Skinner served as the head coach in 1959 and then from 1962-76. Stallings is also the all-time wins leader at Memorial Gym with 189, and has 402 victories as a head coach.
High Scoring Commodores
The Commodores’ have tallied 80 points in both games this season, and are averaging 83.0 points per game in the team’s two games. Vanderbilt scored 80 points once in 2012-13, and surpassed the 75-point barrier only three times last year.
Rod Odom Off To A Fast Start
Senior forward Rod Odom leads the team with 19.5 points per game, and is shooting 59.1% from the floor and 64.3% from three this year.
James Siakam Bulls His Way To First Career Double-Double
Redshirt junior forward James Siakam tallied his first career double-double with a 18-point, 13-rebound performance against Lipscomb. He leads the team with a 7.5 rebound average, and is shooting 76.9% from the floor on the year (10-13).
Against the Big East
Vanderbilt’s all-time record against current members of the Big East Conference is 15-30.
Three-Point Streak Still Alive
Vanderbilt has made a 3-pointer in 867 consecutive games, a streak which began at the inception of the 3-point line in 1986-87. The Commodores rank second only to UNLV for the longest streak in Division I basketball. Vanderbilt, UNLV and Princeton are the only three schools in college basketball to have made at least one 3-pointer in every game played since the 3-point line was implemented.
Commodores in the SEC
The Commodores lead the SEC as a team in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.7. Vanderbilt is averaging 17.0 assists per game and only 10.0 turnovers. Vanderbilt also tops the SEC in field goal percentage (54.5%), three-point field goal percentage (46.2%), and threes made (9.0 per game). James Siakam leads the league in field goal percentage (76.9%), Kyle Fuller is second in assists (6.5), and Rod Odom is first in the league in threes made (4.5) and second in three-point field-goal percentage (64.3%).
