The Commodores’ men’s basketball team will open their 2013-14 campaign Tuesday night when Sun Belt Conference member Georgia State comes to Memorial Gym for a 7 p.m. CT tip off. There will be no television for the contest, but a live stream will be available on vucommodores.com as a part of the website’s All-Access package and the radio broadcast can be heard on the Vanderbilt IMG Radio Network and online at vucommodores.com.

Giveaways: The first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive trading card sets of the 2013-14 team, with the primary giveaway areas at the marketing table at the Southeast entrance and the marketing table on the North concourse. Marketing representatives will be handing out the trading card sets.

About Georgia State
- Georgia State, 1-0 on the season after defeating Southern Poly Saturday, enters Tuesday’s game picked to finish fourth in the Sun Belt Conference by the league’s coaches, but many media outlets have picked the Panthers to win the league.
- The Panthers return four starters and add Kentucky transfer Ryan Harrow this season. Harrow averaged 10.7 points per game in three games against the Commodores last year, and scored 20 points in his opening game with the Panthers.
- R.J. Hunter led GSU last year, scoring 527 points in 2012-13, the 7th-most points scored in a single season in school history. He averaged 17.0 points and 5.1 rebounds per game, and tallied 27 points in the team’s opener vs. Southern Poly.
- Devonta White (14.8) and Manny Atkins (14.2) also averaged double figures for the Panthers in 2012-13.
Georgia State Series
The two teams have met only once, with Vanderbilt winning at Memorial Gym, 65-53, on December 27, 1979.
Commodores in Home Openers at Memorial
Vanderbilt’s record in home openers at Memorial Gym is 54-7 – the SEC’s oldest basketball facility is in its 62nd season.
Stallings in Season Openers
Vanderbilt head coach Kevin Stallings is 13-1 in season openers, with the only loss coming against Georgetown on November 15, 2006, at Memorial Gym. Coach Stallings, Memorial’s all-time wins leader with 187, has a 115-13 record at Memorial Gym in non-conference games (14 years).
Last Time Out
The Commodores defeated Alabama-Huntsville, 66-60, in their only exhibition game of the 2013-14 season on November 6. Vanderbilt sophomore guard Eric McClellan, a transfer from Tulsa, led the Commodores with 20 points, with senior Rod Odom adding 15 points and Kyle Fuller chipping in 12 points. Four Commodores had six or more rebounds, with Odom leading the way with eight.
All-time against the Sun Belt
Vanderbilt is 21-11 all-time against current members of the Sun Belt Conference. VU is 14-11 vs. Western Kentucky, 3-0 vs. Ark. St., and 1-0 vs. Ark.-Little Rock, Georgia State, and La. Lafayette.
Tough Schedule Lies Ahead
In all, Vanderbilt could play as many as 12 teams that made the NCAA Tournament (Butler, LaSalle, St. Louis, Missouri, Ole Miss, Florida) or NIT (Providence, Maryland, Northeastern, Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee) in 2012-13.

Vanderbilt remains home to take on Lipscomb on November 15, followed by a trip to Butler on November 19 and then a trip to the ezybonds Paradise Jam for games November 22-25. After the two Vanderbilt games at home against Georgia State and Lipscomb, the Commodores will play five consecutive games away from home until a December 5th matchup with Marshall.
