Commodores’ senior offensive lineman Wesley Johnson has been named the Southeastern Conference Lineman of the Week.
In his 45th consecutive start on Saturday vs. No. 15 Georgia, Johnson registered 12 knockdown blocks with four of his blocks leading directory to touchdowns or first downs in the 31-27 victory over the Bulldogs. Johnson and the offensive line paved the way for 119 yards rushing and 337 yards of total offense with Vanderbilt’s 31 points the most vs. Georgia in 19 years.
The weekly honor is the fourth award for Johnson, the most in team history. The senior from Nashville is also a candidate for the Rotary Lombardi Award and Outland Trophy.
Johnson and the Dores return to the road this weekend with Vanderbilt’s first-ever trip to Texas A&M. Kickoff is set for 11:21 a.m. CT on the SEC Network.
