Birmingham, Ala. – Vanderbilt senior guard Jasmine Lister was named preseason All-SEC on Monday by a panel of SEC and national media members.

The panel predicted Vanderbilt to finish fifth in the SEC standings. Tennessee was projected to win the conference crown.

Vanderbilt is coming off a 21-12 season, including a 9-7 mark in the SEC and a seventh-place finish in the conference.

Lister, who reached the 1,000-point plateau for her career last season, was joined on the preseason All-SEC team by Kentucky’s DeNesha Stallworth, LSU’s Theresa Plaisance and Tennessee teammates Bashaara Graves and Meighan Simmons.

Last season, Lister collected a bevy of postseason awards, including All-SEC Second Team (Coaches) and All-SEC Honorable Mention (AP).

Lister and the Commodores host North Alabama in a preseason exhibition on Nov. 2 and play their regular-season opener on Nov. 8, hosting Appalachian State.

Tennessee, the reigning SEC regular season champions, returns three starters from last season’s 27-8 squad that advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight, including the SEC Co-Player of the Year (Simmons) and the SEC Freshman of the Year (Graves).

In the preseason balloting, Tennessee topped the order of finish with 192 points, with Kentucky (185), LSU (156), Texas A&M (144), Vanderbilt (134), Georgia (132) and South Carolina (131) rounding out the top half the league. Auburn (84), Missouri (74), Florida (67), Mississippi State (66), Arkansas (57), Ole Miss (29) and Alabama (18) round out the bottom half.

Tennessee’s Simmons was projected as the SEC Women’s Basketball Player of the Year.
