Vanderbilt’s No. 20 women’s cross country team is preparing for the team’s first big race of the season Saturday at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn. The Commodores enjoy one of the coolest practice venues in America, running in front of The Parthenon at Centennial Park. On Tuesday morning – known as Tempo Tuesday – put in a workout, geared more to their upcoming race pace, that consisted of two 800-meter laps followed by a two-mile run with negative splits (second mile faster than the first) and ending with two more hard 800-meter runs.
