Pregame Notes
– Vanderbilt is in its 124th year of organized football.
– The Commodores wore gold helmets and pants with white jerseys for the first time this year.
– UMass won the toss and deferred to the second half with Vanderbilt electing to receive in the first half.
– Attendance was 16,419 at Gillette Stadium.
– Vanderbilt captains for the game were Javon Marshall, Austyn Carta-Samuels, Andre Hal and Carey Spear.

Team Notes
– Vanderbilt led 10-7 at half time, marking the third time in the team’s first four games the Commodores have led at the break.
– The Dores won their seventh straight non-SEC game, improved to 2-0 against UMass and 12-2 all-time vs. the MAC.

Individual Notes
– Redshirt freshman Andrew Jelks made his first career start at right tackle.
Larry Franklin made his first career start at outside linebacker for the Dores.
Adam Butler made his first career fumble recovery in the first quarter falling on the ball near midfield.
Jonathan Krause made the first TD reception of his career with a 42-yard catch in the first quarter.
– With his eight-yard catch in the first quarter Jordan Matthews now has at least one catch in 24 games.
Darrius Sims’ 42-yard kick return in the second quarter set a new career-best.
Jonathan Krause’s 17-yard catch in the second quarter gave him 73 yards receiving in the game, setting a new career-best.
Carey Spear nailed a 32-yard field goal in the second quarter to put Vanderbilt in front, the field goal was his 27th made field goal of his career.
Austyn Carta-Samuels made the first catch of his VU career with a 21-yard grab from Wesley Tate.
Jordan Matthews scored his 20th career touchdown with an 11-yard TD reception early in the fourth quarter. The TD catch matches the second-most in Vandy history with Earl Bennett (2005-07) and Chuck Scott (1981-84) and leaves Matthews one shy of Dan Stricker’s (1999-02) school record.
Jordan Matthews now has one touchdown in eight of his last nine games.
– With his eight catches, Jordan Matthews tied Dan Stricker for fourth all-time on Vanderbilt’s career receptions list with 182 catches.
Darreon Herring and Jake Sealand led the Commodores with eight tackles each.
– For the second straight week, Adam Butler posted a career-best in tackles recording seven tackles on Saturday.
Wesley Tate led VU with 64 yards rushing on 14 carries with Jerron Seymour finishing with 56 yards on 15 rushes.

Offensive Notes
Jonathan Krause’s 42-yard TD catch in the first quarter from Austyn Carta-Samuels gave the Commodores their first, first quarter touchdown of the year.
– The Commodores topped 400 yards of total offense for the third time this season, finishing with 406 yards.
– The Dores finished 8-for-13 on third down.

Defensive Notes
– Vanderbilt held UMass to 248 yards of total offense.
– The Commodores’ D allowed only 99 yards on the ground, marking the second time this season (Austin Peay) that an opponent failed to gain at least 100 yards rushing.
Special Teams Notes
