NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt women’s soccer team will head to the McClimon Soccer Complex in Madison, Wisc., for a tournament hosted by the University of Wisconsin. The Commodores kick things off Friday evening with a matchup against No. 23 Wisconsin before taking on the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Sunday at noon.
Vanderbilt (1-2-1) heads into Madison coming off a split last weekend against Memphis and Rice. The `Dores took the first of the two games, winning 2-1 on the road against Memphis before falling to Rice at the VU Soccer Complex by a score of 3-2.
Despite their record, the Commodores have been getting their chances to put the ball in the net. Through four games the team has amassed 80 shot attempts while averaging just over five corners per game.
Freshmen Krystina Iordanou and Simone Charley lead the team in points with Iordanou tallying six (two goals, two assists) and Charley holding three (one goal, one assist).
Freshman keeper Olivia Leibman has been great for Vanderbilt since taking over mid-way through game one. She holds a save percentage just south of 70 percent, saving 16 shots through four games.
